چکیده

Introduction Premature mortality in people with depression is well established. A better understanding of the causes death and relative risks from each cause may help identify factors that contribute to health inequalities between without depression. Objectives To describe all-cause cause-specific a hospital admission record for Scotland, general population. Methods We used linked population-based dataset all psychiatric admissions Scotland national 28,837 adults ≥18 years age who had 2000 2019. obtained population estimates data National Records quantified difference by calculating standardised ratio (SMR), using indirect standardisation stratifying sex. Results During median follow-up 8.1 years, 7,931(27.5%) were hospitalised died. Circulatory system diseases most common death. Depression, cardiac mortality and all-cause mortality

Depression is an illness that kills. The links between depression and medical illness are well established and bi-directional, but evidence is mounting that depression increases mortality as well as morbidity in adults, particularly older adults. We examine the evidence that the increase in mortality in depression applies to all-cause mortality as well as cardiac mortality, and describe plausib...

Depression Predicts All-Cause Mortality

OBJECTIVE Depression affects up to 20-25% of adults with type 2 diabetes and may increase all-cause mortality, but few well-designed studies have examined the effects of depression on the full range of cardiovascular disease outcomes in type 2 diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS A total of 2,053 participants in the ACCORD (Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes) Health-Related Qu...

All-cause and cause-specific mortality associated with diabetes in prevalent hemodialysis patients

BACKGROUND Diabetes is the most common risk factor for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and has been associated with increased risk of death. In order to better understand the influence of diabetes on outcomes in hemodialysis, we examine the risk of death of diabetic participants in the HEMODIALYSIS (HEMO) study. METHODS In the HEMO study, 823 (44.6%) participants were classified as diabetic. U...

Depression Symptoms in Haemodialysis Patients Predict All-Cause Mortality but Not Kidney Transplantation: A Cause-Specific Outcome Analysis.

Background Depression is common in haemodialysis (HD) patients and associated with poor outcomes. Purpose To evaluate whether depression symptoms predict survival and transplantation in a large sample of haemodialysis patients using cause-specific survival models. Methods Survival data was collected between April 2013 and November 2015, as part of the screening phase of a multicentre random...

Anxiety, depression, physical fitness, and all-cause mortality in men.

The association of low physical fitness with an increased risk of mortality is independent of physiological risk factors, but psychological variables such as anxiety and depression have not been evaluated as possible confounders for all-cause mortality. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the possible confounding effects of anxiety and depression on the relation between physical fitness a...
